Nicolás Pereda's fiercely disquieting debut immediately places him in the ranks of countrymen Carlos Reygadas and Alejandro González Iñárritu as a gifted chronicler of a Mexico reeling with petty injustice and irrevocably separated into rural and urban classes. The deceptively simple story of Vicente, a young man trying to save his grandmother's land from her avaricious sons, is patiently deepened by Pereda's mesmerizing long takes and keen eye for emotional detail. Completed with minimal means but maximum intensity, the film presents a world where everything and everyone is for sale, but where grace can still be found in the spaces between.

LatinEyes Achieved Top Ratings for CBS Affiliate
LatinEyes, the Emmy Award winning show gets kudos from audiences in Sioux Falls. According to the February 2008 Nielsen’s book, LatinEyes challenged Regis & Kelly for the top spot. Both shows air at 9:00 am in Sioux Falls and LatinEyes was the second highest rated show in the time period. “When we replaced our local news program with LatinEyes in February 2008 we knew we’d have calls from viewers. Viewers don’t like change and some have very strong opinions about replacement programs. We are pleased with the program and hope for continued success in the time period,” said Karen Floyd, Program Director at KELOLAND TV & UTV. The CBS affiliate programming team was pleasantly surprised when the ratings for Latin Eyes gave the station a second place in that time period.
LatinEyes broadcasts in over 80 U.S. markets including Puerto Rico. The program reaches 50 million households via local stations, America One, CoLours TV and the AMG networks. It offers a high-energy topic mix with new shows airing weekly with the most up-to-the-minute coverage of Latino life in the U.S. Topic breadth is enhanced with celebrities like Benjamin Bratt, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Andy Garcia being interviewed in depth and video-travels to fantastic Latino countries like Argentina, Perú, Cuba, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico. Additionally, personalities like Mexican boxer Mia St. John and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa hold forth on sports, politics and outside the U.S. literary figures like Victor Villaseñor, Isabel Allende and Julia Alvarez open up about books, literature, and other topics. The show offers the latest music from artists like Juanes, Nelly Furtado, Cachao, Los Amigos Invisibles and Café Tacuba.
“There are very few English language shows that capture the essence of the new Latino identity. LatinEyes brings a real and sundry view of this identity. The latest Latin truth goes beyond Reggeeton and other stereotypes used by non-Hispanics to identify Latinos,” says Andres Pruna, producer of the show.
More than a third (35.7%) of firms majority owned by women of color are majority owned by Latina women according to the Center for Women's Business Research. Additionally, Latinas are the fastest growing segment of the U.S job force based on information provided by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
