Production Assistance Program Coordinator (NYC)

Women Make Movies is seeking a Production Assistance Program Coordinator who will report directly to the Executive Director and work with our Program Consultant. The PA Program assists women filmmakers to independently produce films by providing fiscal sponsorship, workshops, seminars, and various online resources. The Coordinator will manage the fiscal sponsorship program, including review of applications, administering contributions and disbursements, preparing government funding reports, and handling production assistance inquiries. Additional responsibilities include organizing and scheduling workshops and seminars, updating information resources and the PA section of our website, and promoting the program and its activities.

Founded in 1972, Women Make Movies (WMM) is a non-profit feminist, media arts organization dedicated to the distribution and exhibition of films by and about women. Women Make Movies’ Production Assistance (PA) Program provides assistance to emerging and experienced women directors in the production of new documentaries, fiction and experimental films.

Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements:

At least two years experience working in a non-profit arts organization
Must have some familiarity with foundation/government fundraising
A basic knowledge of film production and/or financing.
This position requires someone to be extremely detailed, computer savvy, and who can successfully juggle multiple tasks in a productive and positive manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Flexibility, professionalism, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor, of course, are mandatory!

Crew for Director's Lab Scenes

The feature project EL FLACO (Winner Latino Screenwriting Competition Award, participant Latino Media Market '09) has been invited to Film Independent's Directors lab. As part of the Directors Lab, TWO SCENES are being filmed from the screenplay under the direction of JEFF GILBERT (winner Best Director, Chilean Film Festival) and the mentorship of Rodrigo Garcia (Mother and Child, Nine Lives, In Treatment, Six Feet Under).

This project is an EXERCISE as part of a WORKSHOP and is NON-PAID. However, this script has a lot of heat and is aiming to go into full production later this year, so this is a great opportunity to make contacts and work closely with the filmmakers.
